In June 2012, WWF-Bulgaria assigned "PDM Services" Ltd. the task "Analysis of legislation and the regulatory framework". The assignment is part of the implementation of Project "Implementation of activities from the National Action Plan on Sturgeons to enhance the status and conservation of sturgeons in Bulgaria" under a Grant Contract in the framework of Operational Programme "Environment 2007-2013" co-funded by the European Regional Development fund and the Cohesion Fund of the European Community, Number of the Contract : 5103020–С-012 Project number: 5103020-23-666, Priority Axis 3 „Conservation and Restoration of Biodiversity". As part of the assignment, an analysis of the national and international regulatory framework and policies related to sturgeons as well as the existing National Action Plan on Sturgeons in the Bulgarian Aquatories of River Danube and the Black Sea will be conducted. These will serve as a basis for elaboration of recommendations for improving documents which are key for sturgeons conservation. In addition, information material will be collected as well as a list of Bulgarian fish nurseries producing caviar and sturgeons' meat. The assignment is expected to be completed by September 2014.
